About KnightwareKnightware is a small software company located in central North Carolina between Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill; the area is known for three major universities and the high-tech Research Triangle Park. It is owned and operated by Phyllis Lang. Phyllis Lang holds a B.A. Cum Laude in Mathematics from East Carolina University, and has done graduate work in both Mathematics and Computer Engineering. She has developed software for the US Navy, the electric power metering industry, and astronomers in her career spanning over 25 years. She has authored a number of articles appearing in Amateur Astronomy magazine, The C User's Journal and the book MS-DOS Programming. Astronomy has intrigued Phyllis since the 1960s when she watched the Gemini missions and scoured the library for astronomy books, many by Sir Patrick Moore. She has been a visual telescope observer for over 20 years, and taught telescope mirror-making at North Carolina State University for over 15 years. She got her first telescope (a Celestron-8) in 1985 to view and photograph Comet Halley. She has owned a 20 inch f/5 Dob and a homemade 8 inch f/7.6 Dob that was featured in the Spring 1995 issue (#5) of Amateur Astronomy magazine. Lately, she enjoys binocular observing with Fujinon 16x70s mounted on a T&T Sidesaddle mount, and hunting for planetary nebulae and other deep-sky objects with the 8 inch telescope. She enjoys playing acoustic and electric guitars, swimming, genealogy and history. Her husband shares her love of astronomy; her two teenagers merely tolerate it.
