This short slide show demonstrates how easy it
is to plan variable star observations
These slides demonstrate planning to observe
RR Lyrae type variable stars. These short period pulsating variable
stars are usually of spectral type A.
First,
open a Quick Star Report and select the variable star catalog.
A description of all catalogs is included in the Deep-Sky Planner help file.
Select objects visible from an observer's location sometime during the year.
Second,
select stars of spectral type A. This selection includes A, A0, A1
etc., so we will sort by spectral type.
Third,
select stars of variability type RR. This is the GCVS abbreviation for
RR Lyrae type. A list of abbreviations and their meanings is included
in the Deep-Sky Planner help file.
Next,
sort by variability period and spectral type.
Finally,
perform the search and review the results.
