Deep-Sky Planner has been tested successfully with Starry Night Pro Plus 6 and Enthusiast 6.  Knightware has been advised by Imaginova that Deep-Sky Planner should be compatible with version 4.5 or later of these editions and the Pro edition.

Windows XP and Vista
The latest updates (v6.2.3) to Starry Night Pro Plus and Enthusiast have been tested successfully with Deep-Sky Planner version 4.3.2 under Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1.

Important - If Starry Night 6 crashes on start up after loading the Deep-Sky Planner plug-in :
If you have Starry Night version 6.2 or later, you must update Deep-Sky Planner to v 4.3.2, and copy the DsSN40.plug (v4.1.0.0) from this update to your Starry Night plug-ins folder.

If you have a version of Starry Night prior to version 6.2, you must use the original DsSN40.plug (v 4.0.0.0) that is supplied with Deep-Sky Planner versions 4.3.0 and 4.3.1.

If you have verified that the correct Deep-Sky Planner plug-in resides in the Starry Night plug-ins folder, it is likely that your Starry Night installation is not entirely clean.
  1. Make sure that you have QuickTime v7.4.1 or later.
  2. Make sure that your Windows installation is entirely up to date.
  3. Make sure that your device drivers are entirely up to date.
  4. Be sure that your Starry Night installation is clean:
    • Completely uninstall Starry Night
    • Reboot your computer
    • Re-install Starry Night.  Be certain that no other application is running when you install Starry Night.
    • Update QuickTime if necessary.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Copy the Deep-Sky Planner plug-in to the Starry Night plug-in folder.
    • Start Starry Night
