Can I search multiple catalogs and produce 1 report? |
||||
Not presently. The reason is that each catalog in the database contains different types of data, so the search and reporting functions are tailored specifically to each catalog. To illustrate, the planetary nebula catalog (PNG) contains data for central star magnitudes - a data item that is contained in no other catalog and which is pertinent only to planetary nebulae. A similar situation arises with star catalogs. Only the Washington Double Star catalog contains angular separation and position angle data.
You can get a good idea of what data is present for different catalogs in the Help file. In the Contents, go to About Documents | Advanced Deep-Sky Documents | Deep-Sky Report. There is a similar help topic for star catalogs under About Documents | Advanced Star Documents | Star Report. Finally, because Deep-Sky Planner allows you to open multiple documents at once (limited only by memory constraints), you can open a search document for as many different catalogs as you like and perform any variety of search scenarios. This capability allows you to try out multiple what-if scenarios for comparison on-screen. Furthermore, you can have comet, asteroid, planet, observing log and darkness reports open too. Status: Added to the development queue (high priority). |
